This Week in Music NFTs - September 5
There's power in showing up. Catalog Curators and Arpeggi Samples. Another wave of sold out drops.
Web3 music is a positive sum game.
The more you give, the more you get.
In today’s game - the more you show up for others, the more people show up for you.
This week saw a number of collaborations amongst leading voices in the space.
Whether it was platforms, artists or collectors - the community banded together to highlight the power of the growing movement.
We saw dozens of artists showcase their new Sound.xyz profile, tagging their leading collectors and creating a strong bond among top supporters.
Music NFTs create stronger feedback loops.
Last week we highlighted the traditional cycle for releasing music - drop a single once every 6 weeks and a new collaboration every 3 songs.
Now, people are realizing that there are new paths. You don’t have to worry about landing editorial placements.
You can make a song on Wednesday and sell it on Thursday. Just ask Mija - she did it this week to a tee.
In the early days, I was excited about Music NFTs because they were cool and novel.
Now - they are fundamentally important.
Important to the way we release and discover new music.
Important to the way artists shouldn’t have to sell their soul to a label for an advance to pay rent.
Important to the way we experience music and share relationships with our friends.
The momentum is shifting.
Here’s what to watch for this week.

Man... Coop Records is brilliant! Very cool idea!! I want MusicNFTs to be it so badly, but do you genuinely think their is a working process today where I could sell something to my fans, and they could sell it for substantially more 10 years down the road if I became the biggest artist on the planet?
