This Week in Music NFTs - Nov 21
Royal, Heds and Podcast NFTs. Sound Lounge and Koop Livestreams. Commentary on how I run the newsletter.
The best music will win.
I received a lot of merited feedback about the way I run this newsletter last week - here’s a few items I’d like to remind everyone.
This newsletter does not cover everything happening in web3 music.
These are my personal recommendations.
I’m a collector, investor or advisor to just about every project (and most artists) mentioned every week.
My intent is to guide someone who has very little time to the most important news and events of the past week.
When I recommend drops - I choose to highlight those which I believe will see the most demand.
Drops with the most demand have the highest likelihood of having a secondary market.
Readers being able to go from passive listeners to active collectors is my primary focus.
While it’s optimistic to think people will collect purely to support the artist, most people just want to make money.
In order for Music NFTs to work, there needs to be a two-sided economy.
One in which artists are thriving from their collectors, and one in which collectors are thriving from the songs they collect.
Lately I’ve felt like this resource has been taken for granted.
This is a free newsletter, and I do it because I love this sector and all the artists and music coming out of it.
The reality is - most people don’t care about Music NFTs.
Most people think NFTs are dead.
I - for one - think exactly the opposite. I have never felt more passionate about what’s happening in web3 music and I think it will be the trojan horse that starts the next bull market.
Keep in mind that what you read here and what you see me collect is a fraction of what I spend time on behind the scenes.
I’m trying to figure it all out - the same as you.
I definitely don’t have the answers, and I certainly don’t pretend to.
To those who have read this each and every week - thank you for your support. I don’t take your time for granted and I hope this has been a valuable resource.
We’re in the early innings and I look forward to being the driving force of the next wave of culture - together.
Here’s what I recommend watching this week.

Disclaimer: I own most of the NFTs mentioned in Freshly Minted. I’m an investor in Sound, Heds, Decent, Zora, Royal and Koop.
Thanks for all your hard work! I really enjoy the newsletter because I don't have time to follow the myriad of web3 music developments on my own.
I know nothing about music NFTs except what I’ve read from this newsletter but I think your general thesis re: the ongoing utility of NFTs for music seems correct and, at the very least, has inspired me to get involved in the space.
Hoping in 2023 I can devote some specific attention within my newsletter to music NFTs (thinking an NFT specific playlist and post).
Anyway all of that is to say that I think your newsletter is excellent, that you’re doing excellent work, and that you seem to be moving in the right direction.

Best of luck moving forward and hopefully I join you as a legit collector in the new year.
