This Week in Music NFTs - Dec 5
Audius, Arpeggi, Billboard, Spinamp and Angelbaby. Zoratopia and WavROOM at Art Basel. Gearing up for Music NFTs biggest month yet.
Headed back from Art Basel and one thing is clear.
The Music NFT community is alive and well.
Whether it was Zoratopia, WavWRLD or Campfire - there were dozens of pockets with artists, collectors and founders cementing the culture around web3 music.
Community is the backbone which allows the rest of the market to thrive.
As we head into what’s traditionally a slow month for the music industry, my intuition is its actually going to be quite the opposite for web3.
Music NFTs today don’t rely on the same resources as the traditional industry.
Collectors are active during the holidays, and traditional press isn’t really necessary for sold out collections to thrive.
As we head into the last month of 2022 - there a few things to keep in mind.
We’ve yet to see a true “breakout artist” in web3.
We’ve yet to see a “100x” for a given song at scale.
While the writing is on the wall, keep in mind that the biggest songs, artists and collections are still yet to come.
So keep an eye on the Sound Charts.
In the same way we look to places like CoinGecko and OpenSea to keep a pulse on the wider crypto market, expect to do the same with the wider music market using Sound as an indicator.
I’m excited to share some major projects in the next few weeks - so be sure to keep your notifications on.
Here’s what to watch for this week.
